"Breast Cancer Survival Rate by Stage
Health care professionals are able to be predict a patient’s survival rate based on the determined stage of breast cancer. The following chart is an approximate survival rate for each stage of breast cancer. Percentages will vary depending on individual medical situations, etc.
Stage / / 5-year Relative Survival Rate
0 / / 100%
I / / 100%
IIA / / 92%
IIB / / 81%
IIIA / / 67%
IIIB / / 54%

A five-year survival rate refers to the average number of patients who are still alive five years after diagnosis with a specific stage of breast cancer. Five-year survival rates do not include patients who die from other causes. After seven years, the survival rate decreases for each stage.
It is important to remember that these survival rates are based on averages. Some women with advanced breast cancer live significantly longer than seven years. Researchers are constantly developing new treatment alternatives to prolong breast cancer survival."
Hi Ruth
This is a really hard question to answer. It really does depend on alot of factors, age, general health, where the tumour is located(ducts etc) Stage 3 breast cancer is divided up into two subcategories, 3A and 3B. Stage 3 A is invasive breast cancer where the tumor is larger than five centimeters and there is significant involvement with the lymph nodes, i.e. they are clumped together or stick to one another. Stage 3B is a breast cancer tumor of any size that has spread to the breast skin, chest wall, or internal mammary lymph nodes. This breast cancer stage includes inflammatory breast cancer, which is a rare, but aggressive form of breast cancer. If this is the case, because of your mothers age I would be prepared for the worst, I know how hard it is, I really do. Just be prepared for what is to come honey and my prayers are with you
