Mastery Martial Arts of RI held a Breaking Boards for Breast Cancer Event at the Centerdale, RI academy. Survivors of breast cancer wrote affirmations on the boards and broke them. These boards will be placed on the Waterfire braziers at the Flames of Hope a Celebration of life Fundraising event at Waterfire in Providence, RI on October 11th with each survivors message spiritually delivered through the air. Breaking Boards For Breast Cancer Fundraiser

The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation is having a fundraiser at the Flames of Hope..a Celebration of Life Waterfire in Providence RI October 11th. My karate studio, Mastery Martial Arts, will be hosting a board breaking event. The chief instructors will break 1,000 boards. It is so cool. People can buy a board for $10 and write a positive affirmation on it. Then after all the boards are broken, they will be placed on the fire and all the positive affirmations of love, faith, and healing will be sent off into the universe.

This is a huge event. There will be a pink ribbon made out of people on our state house steps. The state house will be lighted in pink!! This event is so large it is receiving national coverage. Why does breast cancer get so much publicity?

I think all types of cancer need to be given attention in the media. Why is there such a disproportionate focus on breast cancer? Also, does anyone feel that it's wrong to be using a serious illness to market products?

It started with people truly concerned with research and development. They did a wonderful job, bringing the cancer to people's attention.

The present Barbie-pink campaigns are commercialised and depend on dubious statistics and scare campaigns.
